Good morning friends I'm going to talk about that activities using CLT method or communicative approach.
This method was born in 1960 and was formally promoted by Richard and Rodgers in 1986.
Richard and Rodgers were Universitiy cambridge professors.
Firstly
THE FEATURE:
This range of exercises types and activities compatible with a communicative approach is unlimited, provided that such exercises enable learners to attain the communicatives objectives of the curriculum .
And What if the students are wrong in the pronunciation?
How about the students' errors?
Errors are seen as natural outcomes and the teacher may note the students' feedback to the classmates.
TYPES OF ACTIVITIES USING CLT:
There a variety of activities however class activities or better known using CLT are:
UNSCRAMBLED SENTENCES: the students order the words to make sense of the sentences for example:
blue- the-is-car.
the car is blue.
PICTURE STRIP STORY: the students explain each of the scenes they see in the images.
ROLEPLAY: Where give Students an opportunity to practice communicatives in social roles.
In these activities :
a)They can learn from hearing used by other number of the group.
b)They will produce a greater amount of language than they would use in teacher- fronted activities.
c)Their motivational level is likely to increase.
d)They will have a chance to develop fluency in a comfortable environment.
WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES AND DISAVANTAGES USING CLT:
a)The Teacher -Students relationship is an interactive, harmonious relationship, rather than the traditional education, the kind of master-servant relationship.
b)Greatly enhanced the students' interest .
c)Communicative language teaching encourage students to participate in, sometimes acompanied by scenes or simulated scenarios, so that the students moreclose to life, the students became the main character, naturally they were interest in the English language, to learn English as a pleasure.
DISAVANTAGES:
a)Often, There is no text, grammar rules are not presented, and classroom arragement is non standart.
b)The students are exprected to interact primarily with each other rather than with the teacher, and correction of errors may be absent or infrequent.
c)Students with low levels of proficiency in the target language may find it difficult to participate in oral communicative activities and , if the exams used by an institution are grammar based.
d)Communicative fluency may not be appropiate.
